This cake is too cute! I babysit a 3 yr old boy and his 5 yr old sister. The 5 yr old is looking over my shoulder and says,"I wish I could have that cake!" Great job! For some reason, I am a little intimidated about trying fondant. All these comments are making me feel a little more at ease. I may try it this weekend for a fathers' day cake. Thanks!

.This fondant icing recipe is the one I usually turn to when I make fondant birthday cakes. If the fondant seems too dry you can add a few drops of water and knead again.

Hi Duke,
So another year has passed and it's on to attempt fondant birthday cake number two. I just had one question. It says in your blog that you can cover and keep the fondant in an airtight container, I'm just wondering how long you can store it for ahead of time or do you have to make it just before using so that it doesn't turn to garbage?

Thanks and I can't wait to see how this year's cake turns out for me! Will try to send pictures when all done!
Thanks again!

I made the marshmallow fondant the way you described but I had problems with rolling it out and forming it into different things and drying. Can you give me some hints on how to roll it out with out crumbling and cracking and falling apart?

Can I use another flavoring instead of almond? I don't really care for it and as I am using carrot cake I thought lemon or orange flavoring would taste better.
